Hi to you all,
Great news,
Because of the success of last years Party in the Park at Bellevue Pak in Sudbury. We have been invited back to appear again this year. Obviously I would like to stage another demonstration which will include CYK, TTs & Tai Chi.
So please make sure you are training hard as I would like to get some practise in and I would love for any of you to give some suggestions on what we could do. I will gladley listen to any that you have.
I received the email yesterday, 20th Feb and because of what happened last year after our show (a student from another Kung Fu school approached me with some views of her own, which were amusing to say the least) I took the liberty of telling the organisers of the park event some home truths about the Martial Arts, Kung Fu in particular, below isthe email I sent if you wish to read it:
Yes we would be very interested in taking part again in this event as we thoroughly enjoyed it last year.
I presume you will require a demonstration from us again which we will gladly do.
As you have given us a more adequate warning I’m sure we can do a better demonstration this year.
Could you please make sure you keep me updated with this nearer the time.
You did say that if I have any suggestions please let you know.
I would like to inform you that there are a few Kung Fu clubs in the surrounding area but none are officially recognised with qualified Instructors. We at the CYK Kung Fu School are registered with the BCCMA (British Council for Chinese Martial Arts) and this is the ONLY governing body for Chinese martial arts that are also recognised by the Sports Council as such all our Instructors are official and qualified in many styles of Chinese Martial Arts.
The reason I mentioned this is because last year at the Party in the Park a kung fu member from another club came up to me saying I was not allowed to say that I was the only qualified instructor in the area. I obviously checked this with the BCCMA, which you could also do, and they agreed with me saying that what I said was completely true and that I had no reason not to shout it from the rooftops.
I’m not one to put people’s noses out of joint but as you can understand I have worked a very long time to be awarded the honour of this instructorship, so why should I keep this quiet.
What I’m trying to say is please make sure you only invite qualified instructors from their respected disciplines, as there are many so called instructors out there that can damage their students from miss-use of their styles. This is mainly a problem in the Kung Fu disciplines not so much with Karate styles. This is why the BCCMA was originally set up, to ‘weed out the back street boys’ of Kung Fu.
This I now of first hand as I, as a student a long time ago, was taken in by this man who said he was one of the best instructors in the area and it turned out after a number of years he was not qualified in any particular style of Kung Fu and severely damaged my hip joints from not understanding how to stretch his students properly. I, as a result of this I have severe arthritis in both my hips.
I’m sorry to ramble on about this but as you can understand I’m wanting to look out for those potential students out there and making sure they only go to qualified instructors whether it be Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc martial arts.
Let me know your views on this if you wish.
Have a great weekend

Thanks to all the students that took time out of their day to support us at the Park.
It was a great day.
I am ecstatic with how well you all performed, should I be surprice, NO, this has been the best demo by far.
Well Done
Bring on the next one......
